I am a new Christian how am I to study the word of God so as to receive and be filled with the holy spirit. Is it really a feeling? or is it just by faith.
Last night I learned just how much I did not know about the Holy Spirit. I realize that I have strived so diligently to be in an intimate relationship with God and Jesus but I had not even conceived an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. Your analogy relating to yourself as a husband, father and son is what drove it home. Thank you so much for good clear teaching. Past teaching had me confused but what you are giving us is solid Word. Thank you even more for qualifying it with the Word so that we all study and know ourselves.
Last night was AWESOME! I left feeling so much closer to GOD. The anticipation for next week is mind blowing. I have been praying that we would have a study on Wednesday nights and GOD has delivered. The handouts are exceptional your breakdown and illustrations were powerful! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
I am extrememely “Grateful” to the Lord and Bishop Jakes to knw that we have gifts in the house that can teach with the anointing and well as preach. The illiustration with the arm of God (being Jesus) and the hand of God (being the Holy Spirit) was dynamic. I believe that everyone should be able to have a beter understanding after that analogy. Hungry for more teaching.
Where else can we get teaching like this at The Potter’s House?
I was in the Bible study on Wednesday. The night before I had prayed that maybe my feeling of being unfulfilled was do to my own relationship with God and not what I was or was not getting in our service back home(OHIO). After being in bible study I seen that my relationship was lacking. I have been saved for many years, speaking in tonges, drumming, in service and still I lack.
Thank God for the topic because I seen it was my own relationship with God that was my problem.
I look forward to downloading the next weeks handout.
In Matthew 12: 31-32 the bible tells us that all manner of blasphemy shall be forgiven except against the Holy Ghost neither in this world or the world to come (para-phrasing). I understand that blasphemy against God the Father and Jesus Christ can be forgiven because we can be unsaved one day and accept the Lord Jesus Christ into our life after that. And because of this all of our sins have been washed away. However, I need some help with the Holy Ghost being the exception to this rule especially since God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Ghost are one. I have many thoughts on why this could be, but do not have anything concrete to back up any of my assumptions. Please help.
Totally enjoyed bible study on Mar. 19th, I think this type of study will develop and challenge believers to have a sound knowledge of the word of God. I look forward to the upcoming weeks.
Ok, I’ve done some research. I looked up the same scripture in “The Message” version of the bible and it seems to bring much clarity to my confusion.
Matthew 12:31-32 from “The Message” reads:
“There’s nothing done or said that can’t be forgiven. But if you deliberately persist in your slanders against God’s Spirit, you are repudiating the very One who forgives. If you reject the Son of Man out of some misunderstanding, the Holy Spirit can forgive you, but when you reject the Holy Spirit, you’re sawing off the branch on which you’re sitting, severing by your own perversity all connection with the One who forgives.”
The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all one in the same, If blasphemy against Jesus can be forgiven, then why not against the Holy Spirit? Does forgiveness interfer with redemption? Example: If someone has blasphemed the Holy Spirit for whatever reason (out of ignorance or lack of understanding) but then becomes saved and asks God to forgive them and accepts HIM into their heart, since the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit can’t be forgiven will the redemption still be in tact?
