I am  so excited about our first week  of study regarding the power of the Holy Spirit.  I trust that this class, including the study material have been helpful to your personal study. My prayer for you is that God will give you, “the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of his son.”
I printed handouts for you in class, as well as online, because it was important to me that you spend time searching the scriptures like the Bereans, who the bible says were more noble than some other diciples.  The word says that they “received the word with all readiness of mind, and serched the scriptures daily whether those things were so.” Acts 19:11.  It is my belief that personal study is essential for spritual growth and development.
Join me next week, as we go deeper into Gods word regarding this subject.

Peace and blessings.

Harvard University sets a standard in the area of post secondary education. With a long history of excellence in academia this institution is set apart from many other collegiate institutions in the world. Albeit an institution set high on the parameters of education, many professors at the university teach that any individual who researches, studies and experiences a topic is considered an expert in that field. An expert is any individual who is a specialist or master in their field; they are considered the highest ranking authority on the topic at hand.

For many women we have a resident expert in our lives, our mothers oftentimes rank as the highest authority in the fields of marriage, childrearing and self-esteem. We look to them to mentor us in fields of study where they may or may not be an expert. We assume they are masterful, crafty and all knowing with a diversity that fits our ever-changing society. A mother serves as a mentor for the growing process of life, she is there to assist and aid in the growth of her daughter. She teaches us about our bodies, hair, and boys. However, there are some roles that even the mother is unable to fulfill. Oftentimes we assume her role as expert in subject matters where she may have very little experience. What happens when the little girl becomes a woman? What then becomes of the daughter who is married and has a mother who was single all of her life, or the daughter who is the career woman whose mother chose to remain at home to raise her children?

The Spirit of Adoption: Who’s Your Daddy?

Recently while walking through my home I heard my two sons having a heated discussion. My older son was commanding the younger son to follow instructions as he had ordered him to do. I could hear my older son saying “Do this and DO that, now do this and that!” His orders were powerful and authoritative and while the younger son obeyed the instructions, there was obvious frustration in his movement and stride. Finally, the younger son became overwhelmed and grew tired of the commands that were being placed on him.He stopped for a moment and begin to ponder the position of the person who was placing these demands. As he thought, he came to himself and realized that the person who placed the demand was not the one who was in COMMAND ! He opened his mouth and made a powerful confession, “YOUR NOT MY DADDY!”
No longer confused by the person or the position, my younger son had now put things in perspective and ended the battle between him and his older brother.WHO’S YOUR DADDY? In Romans 8:15-17 the bible is clear about our relationship to our heavenly father, our daddy-God. As believers we are joint-heirs with Christ. When we enter into the body of Christ we denounce our former father Satan and are adopted into a new family.“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.” Romans 8:15-17 (KJV) Through the death of his son, God completed a legal transaction through a spiritual manifestation. He allowed us to assume his name, inherit his promises, as well as carry his DNA.“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: butwe know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him PURIFIETH (ceremonially clean from defilement) himself, even as he is pure. “
1 John 3:1-3 (KJV) We have covenant relationship with our heavenly father and he promises that this relationship will never end but will be carried on into eternal life. As we go through the hardships of life we must consider our genetic makeup and who is in command. Do not follow the demands of Satan but rather open your mouth and boldly confess “YOUR NOT MY DADDY !”
